Care Homes With Respite CareA Respite care service can be provided for different lengths of time – anything from an hour or two up to a week or longer – and in a range of care settings, from respite care homes through to respite live in care. This can also be planned or arranged at short notice such as in an emergency.
What Is Respite Care?
Respite care offers any sort of help and support that enables a person to have a break from the responsibility of caring for somebody else, it is also ideal for those who are well enough to leave hospital but not quite well enough to return home which can also act as an opportunity to get to know a particular care home.
Feelings of guilt or apprehension are common among carers particularly around issues of having a break. However, if you go too long without a proper break, you may become ill, anxious or depressed. This can make life harder for you and the person you are caring for. Any person of any age can become a carer, which is usually informal and unpaid.
If you provide a substantial amount of care on a regular basis, you are also entitled to a carer's assessment in your right from Social Services.
